Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte

Story

The inspiration behind Versailles, Vaux-le-Vicomte is a gem of 17th century baroque architecture, originally owned by Louis XIV’s superintendent of finances, Nicolas Fouquet. The château’s gardens are perfect examples of the jardins à la française and as for the interior, the décor has remained pretty much intact since Fouquet himself lived there.

Unique feature

As well as being the largest private estate listed as a historic monument in the whole of France, one of the château’s most exciting features is the ability to design sound and light shows (including fireworks) and water shows, which promise to blow you and your guests away.

Pavillon de Musique du Barry

Story

As indicated in its name, this pavillon on the outskirts of Paris belonged to Louis XV’s favourite, the Countess du Barry. Louis XV gifted du Barry with a pavillon on this very land, but with the Countess deeming it too small for her receptions, the king authorised her to build her very own edifice, with the foundation stone laid in 1770. Countess du Barry met a tragic end during the French Revolution, guillotined publicly in 1793; but her legacy lives on through her Pavillon de Musique.

Unique features

As well as the royal ties, the Pavillon de Musique overlooks the Seine river and boasts beautifully manicured gardens, which are perfect to host summer festivities.

Maison de l’Amérique Latine

Story

La Maison de l’Amérique Latine was founded in 1946 by the then minister of Foreign Affairs and supported by the General de Gaulle. It was intended to be a platform and space for French and Latin Americans to reinforce their bond and develop new relationships with Latin America’s 20 countries. In order to create a base, they joined together two 18th century hotels particuliers on Boulevard Saint Germain in the heart of the capital, linked by their ground floor. Still today, the building plays an extremely important role in the diplomatic, cultural and economic links between France and Latin America, hosting events for visiting politicians.

Unique feature

The location of the Maison is incredibly central, but the most striking feature here is the garden: a typical jardin à la française in the heart of Paris, where you will be able to party the night away.

Pavillon Cambon Capucines

Story

Pavillon Cambon Capucines was, in its former life, the headquarters of France’s Crédit Foncier bank. This Pavillon was built in 1914, in a style echoing the buildings of the neighbouring Place Vendôme.

Unique feature

I know that I keep going on about locations being so incredible and unique, but they truly are for our shortlist! This pavillon is a stone’s throw away from Place Vendôme and Opéra Garnier.

Pavillon Etoile

Story

Paris’ hotels particuliers (private hotels) are truly iconic and Pavillon Etoile is no exception. This Haussmannian venue is extremely flexible and can be adjoined to the neighbouring Pavillon Presbourg, as well as the Club de l’Arc and Victoria Paris restaurant.

Unique feature

A breathtaking view of the Arc de Triomphe. Enough said!

Pavillon Royal

Story

This 19th century venue originally came to be as an ice cream and lemonade shop (when it was a much smaller chalet), followed by a patisserie in 1899. It was extended multiple times in the 1930s, 1970s and most recently in 2014, with a panoramic veranda and contemporary design elements in the heart of the Bois de Boulogne.

Unique feature

Pavillon Royal offers the perfect blend of modern and antique, in an incredibly luscious and green setting. The perfect venue for a couple seeking a compromise on contrasting wedding styles.

This Academy programme highlights the best private experiences for guests to book, such as a market tour with the hotel’s chef, a private tour of Versailles, vineyard visits, etc.

Pré Catelan

Story

This 19th century Bois de Boulogne edifice houses today one of France’s most reputed restaurants, boasting 3 Michelin stars. Since 1997, Frédéric Anton has been at the helm of this establishment, pushing culinary boundaries and delighting diners for decades.

Unique feature

It’s a true privilege to be able to host an event in a restaurant as highly recognised as Pré Catelan, particularly in one (or more) of their 12 salons. Up to 2000 guests can be catered for a mere 5 minutes away from the Champs Elysées, making Pré Catelan not just a world renowned restaurant, but a one of a kind venue.

Story

Formerly the private residence of Napoleon Bonaparte’s grandnephew, Prince Roland Bonaparte, Paris’ Shangri-La hotel is filled with the tales of an illustrious family. Dine in house at one of the 3 restaurants and make sure to relax at the spa: you will feel like royalty.

Unique feature

I haven’t mentioned location yet, but once again, Shangri-La Paris is in an ideal spot, with incomparable views on the Eiffel Tower, particularly from their exclusive suites. Make sure to sample the menus at L’Abeille, a 2 Michelin starred French restaurant, and Shang Palace, the only Chinese restaurant in France to have a Michelin star.
