The Blog

I absolutely love Florence! To me, it’s one of the most magical cities, filled with culture, history and of course, style. I lived there when I was studying for my MA in Fashion Merchandising and I have such fond memories of cycling up the Tuscan hills around the city, walking my dog Coco past the Duomo and sipping cappuccinos on sunny terraces.

I was there in June for a clients’ wedding in nearby Fiesole, a village in the Florentine hills, and even though we had a packed schedule running the wedding, it felt amazing to be back.

I’ve outlined below some of my favourite places in Florence and absolute must-see museums and the best part is, you can fit most of them into a weekend!

The Uffizi Gallery is one of the most well-known and recognised museums in the world, housing a collection of Michelangelo’s, Raffaello’s and Botticelli’s, including the latter’s Birth of Venus. If you can, I highly recommend booking a visit of the Vasari Corridor, which stretches across the Ponte Vecchio, joining Palazzo Vecchio to Palazzo Pitti, exiting in the Boboli Gardens (which on that note, you should also make time to explore). The corridor allowed for a safe and efficient passage for Florentine nobility and is adorned with paintings, particularly self-portraits, including those of Rembrandt, Delacroix and Velazquez among many others.

During your trip, also fit in a visit to see Michelangelo’s David at the Accademia Gallery and don’t forget to walk through the other galleries there, containing antique musical instruments, religious art and Italian Renaissance masterpieces.

Florence is a city of style and fashion, with a focus on beauty and timeless elegance. Visit the Salvatore Ferragamo museum for a peak into their archives and marvel at their rich history and avant-garde designs. Also make time for the newly-inaugurated Gucci Garden, a truly immersive experience in the iconic fashion house.

These museums are only snippets of what Florence has to offer, of course there is also the iconic Duomo and Santa Croce Cathedral to visit, but they will give you a taste of an incredible city and make you book a trip back in no time!
