The Blog

Every year at La Fête HQ we’re waiting with baited breath for the announcement of the Pantone Colour of the Year and boy, we were thrilled with 2019’s offering!

Living Coral is an absolutely incredible shade that you can incorporate in your events throughout the year, not just in summer. It’s also fabulous for creating unique contrasts and striking shots for all you Instagrammers out there.

Take a peek below at our top styling tips for the peachy hue.

1.Food and drink: give it some oomph!

Living Coral is an incredible shade for food: from frosted cupcakes and macarons to lollipops and mousses, it can be easily included, no matter what your event may be. I’d say that Living Coral is particularly appropriate for sweet treats, but do also remember to extend your Pantone love to cocktails, such as Campari or blood orange based drinks.

2. Your events get a coral makeover

Living Coral is GREAT because it’s a non-gender specific colour, which makes it perfect for parties. You can use this shade in touches, as part of a bigger palette or theme, or as an overall monochromatic inspiration. Blend Living Coral with creams in order to break it up elegantly or go for a more dramatic look, with bright turquoises and navy. Pantone’s shade is also a favourite of ours for baby showers, hen dos and gender reveal parties.

3.Flowers of course!

Peachy blooms are an absolute must, so do include them in your event or wedding day. Extremely soft, yet unique and striking, Living Coral inspired arrangements make for show stopping centrepieces, bouquets, and even arches (very ethereal!). Make sure to include foliage: the depth of the greens will make the coral pop out even more.

4. Soft furnishings: add some pizzazz to your home/venue

Living Coral is going to be absolutely everywhere in 2019, so don’t hesitate to get on the bandwagon and incorporate it in your home décor (if you feel like you could commit to it long term!) or in your event décor. Choose throws, cushions, upholstery, curtains, rugs and more: patterns and textures are also great, such as graphic prints, brocades, toile de Jouy and faux fur.

5. The Living Coral bride: how to include the shade into your wedding

We’re so excited to incorporate more coral in our couples’ big day. Other than food, drink, décor and flowers, this shade can be seamlessly included into outfits and accessories. We absolutely adore the ombré trend for veils and gowns, so why don’t you give this go for a more alternative yet refined look? If you’re after something particularly edgy, why not include some coral shades streaked in your hair, or even an actual piece of coral? Your bridesmaids can also follow your lead by wearing coral dresses and your future husband and his groomsmen can opt for coral bow ties (we particularly love them with tiny cream polka dots).
